explain about BER and SPIKE POTENTIAL...?

as i know,BER reflects the electrical activity witihin the stomach. How it can be correlated with the spike potential in oder to initiate the contraction?
Answer:
There r 2 types of waves that can b seen in the GI.Which are BER or slow waves and Spike potentials. BER is originated from the interstitial cells of cajal which about 2-3 per mins which do not initiate any contractions. Spike potentials associated with the slow waves as is generated calcium voltage gated channels open on it. Force of the contractions depend on the number and amplitude of spike potentials.
The BER rarely causes contractions but spike potentials superimposed on the most depolarizing portions of the BER increase muscle tension. There is a descending gradient in pacemaker frequency , and that with the highest frequency usually dominates.
