ER doctors?

On average, how many hours a week do ER doctors work? and make per week? i've heard different things and read different salary reports, and some of the average salaries seem out of proportion to the weekly hours ive heard they work. thanks everyone. and p.s. i know money is not important, but its more to find out what the balance is, thanks
Answer:
Whatever amount of money an ER physician earns is well deserved. It takes a special kind of physician to be able to evaluate, diagnose and act quickly under pressure, often handling multiple cases at a time.
A recent poll showed respondents were paid an average of about $120/hr. I know some guys who like to work phenomenal hours, but by age 40 or so most tire of that and limit themselves to 40 or 50 hours a week. There's lots of variability. I've worked in little places where I treated fewer patients in a week than I have in a normal shift in a busier place, and the bucks reflect that to some degree. Most, I think, range in the $150-300k/year area.
